What
is Symmetrical Internet speed?
Symmetrical
internet speed means the data transfer rate on your connection will be the same
during download and upload. You will get the same speed during downloading and
uploading files at the same time.
Means if
you have subscribed for a 10-Mbps Internet Lease Line & you want to
download a 1GB file from the Internet and at the same time you also want to
upload another 700 MB file over the internet, in this situation your Download
Data Rate will be 10-Mbps for 1GB file and 10-Mbps for 700MB file. You will get
10-Mbps Download & 10-Mbps Upload Simultaneously.
What
is Asymmetrical internet speed?
Asymmetrical
internet speed means your data transfer rate won’t be the same for both
directions. You may get a higher download speed in comparison to upload speed.
Means if
you have subscribed for a 50-Mbps Broadband internet plan and you want to download
1GB file from the internet then you download speed may vary up to 50-Mbps and if
you want to upload your 700MB file over the internet then you might get 3 -5 Mbps
upload speed, which depends on the network utilization at the providers’ end.
When someone needs
symmetrical and asymmetrical internet speed?
Let’s
take a day-to-day life scenario, suppose you are working from home and you are
about to present a high-definition video presentation to your 100+ online
audience via Zoom, Microsoft Team, Google Meet, Cisco Webex, or any other video
conferencing & presentation application. You are going to upload a large
file during the video conferencing.
So, What type of speed do you need? The answer is Symmetrical speed because you are
uploading the data so your viewers can see it, if your upload speed will fluctuate
then your viewer might get a blurred view of your presentation. Suppose if you
are running online classes and your audience has paid you for the content. It
may get fiery if they won’t able to see the content clearly because they have
paid you and they are spending their time for it.
This type of
conditions could get worst in businesses if your client won’t able to understand
your agenda and unable to catch your idea. Your entire idea or the hard work
you have done for it will be a waste. You will lose your client and your
business.
These are
some examples. The situation could be anything where you can’t afford to get
stuck due to internet speed.
You can
opt for Broadband internet speed if you are a data-hungry user which always preferred
downloading or watching content over the internet but has very little to upload.
Budget could be the main concern during the subscription of these speeds.
Remember that
asymmetric internet speed is cheaper than the symmetric internet speed. Your internet
service provider may offer you several flavors at these types of speeds.
